160 E University Pkwy, Orem, UT 84058 "Thai comfort food featuring noodles, curries & soups in laid back strip-mall surroundings."

Scale: Eatery Wonderfulness Average Never Return Experience design: Eatery Wonderfulness!

This place is a little quirky! Mismatched Christmas lights on the walls, elephant and giraffe carvings, a waving cat, and a bamboo/orchid shelf. However, these just throw back to their origins as a mom/pop place next to the laundromat. I loved the quirkyness then and love it now. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I never wait long here. Food: Average We were in Thailand just a few months ago so had plenty of experience to go off. This place had a lot of dishes we remembered and loved. The Chicken Katay appetizer was delicious! The Papaya Salad was perfect! The Masala curry was delicious and close to the one we had in Chiang Mai. The Pad Thai was a bit disappointing, Carolina said she'd made better in Thailand. And I was not impressed with the Thai Milk Tea: as an addict who had it every chance I got over there, this one was too strong and not creamy enough. Overall, some delicious dishes, but not as authentic as we were hoping for. (apparently Laotian? See below) Fun Facts

*The recipes used to create the delicious dishes at Thai Evergreen came from Thavone's mother, a chef in Laos who passed her talent onto her son. *Owner, Thavone Mymala, a true business man, has owned three different Thai restaurants, including the first Thai restaurant in Utah County, opened in 1997. *Hello is said different for men and women: Men say hello with sah wah dee khrap! (short and sharp finish). Women say hello with sah wah dee khaa... (drawn out finish) Fab or Flop Fabulous! It may not have sent us back to Thailand, but the food was a hit and the service is good every time I've been there.
